I'm unable to create, edit or delete events on the Google Calendar I have synced (through iCal) with my iPod Touch. The Edit button doesn't even show up.
If I go into iCal on my Mac, I can make any changes I want to the same events.
I have Calendars turned on for the google account in question in Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
Am I missing something?

try this: open ical on your phone. click on the day with the event you want to edit/remove. then, click on the actual event on teh bottom of the screen - it should now open in a new view. click edit on the top right, and then scroll down to the bottom where you should find "DELETE EVENT" in a red bubble. if you can't seem to find these buttons for the google calendar, i will work through it step by step on my phone to see if i can come up with anything else.

i'm sure there is a better answer, but there is a free app called google calendar by google. it runs much smoother than google calendar via ical and it will still sinc with the ical on your computer.

At least I can now edit my own events. Still can't delete meetings that have been cancelled — not even meetings I created — but it's better than nothing.
Pathetic that this basic, obvious functionality hasn't been baked in to the iOS calendar.
BTW, I scrubbed the forums before posting. If there's an answer to this, I can't find it.
Zach, when I do this on Google Calendar events, there is no Edit button. 🙂

This worked great! I set up my Gmail this way (using Exchange) and then deleted my Gmail account that I had set up the other way (so I wouldn't have two mailboxes that were the same account).
