Transfer photos from macbook to ipad

Without using Itunes, how can I transfer photos from my macbook pro to my Ipad2. I must admit I have been a PC user for all my life and recently bought a Macbook and an Ipad. PCs I must admit are alot more functional and connects to other PCs and networks and devices with ease. Apple products on the other hand are ar inferior. I am very disappointed!!!

iPad 2, Mac OS X (10.7.1)

If you don't want to use iTunes to sync them, then there are third-party iPad apps such as Simple Transfer which can copy photos to/from your computer via your wifi network. But until iOS 5 is available and installed the photos that you copy this way will only go into the Saved Photos/Camera Roll album, and you won't be able to create albums on the iPad and move photos between them - with iOS 5 (from http://www.apple.com/ios/ios5/features.html#photos) :

Even organize your photos in albums — right on your device

There is also a camera connection kit which can be used to copy photos from an SD card or directly from your camera to the iPad.

Thanks King_Penquin. My problem is I am on assigment in the Mozambican bush and download photos from my Canon to my Macbook Pro. Then edit them in Photoshop. I then need to transfer them to my Ipad so that I can upload them onto my blog and facebook. I dont have a wifi here and cant connect the macbook to the internet. Can only connect the ipad to the internet. So i need to get these photos from the macbook to the internet via the ipad. Very frustrating. Why cant Apple products not just see each other and then you tranfer files via Finder ( as you do with windows explorer on a PC)?

Hi Meg, it worked like magic :) I set up the ad-hoc network by following your instructions. I then downloaded the Simply Share app as suggested by King Penquin. The Simply Share app on the Ipad picked up the Ad Hoc wifi network that I had created and I could wirelessly transfer all my photos from the Ipad to the Macbook. Thanks everybody for the help!

Obviously you are correct. I was thinking in terms of Internet access. After reading the article all the way through, I realize that it does not include the steps to use one of the Macs as the "hotspot" so it is really only to create - just as the article stated - a computer to computer network.

That's what I get for not reading all the way through! 😊

I have that problem too. One way that may take awhile if you dont have tons of photos is to send them to yourself in multiples, then save or copy the photos from the emails and they will appear in your photo albums. Or, (I haven't tried this) transfer them to a memory stick or SD card. Hope this helps. I have an old MacBook Pro (2007) and am looking for an easy way to transfer them to my iPad Pro. I'm open to suggestions. I have over 1,200 photos to transfer. Yikes...
