Apple TV keeps telling me to Authorize my computer.

I'm repeatedly being told to authorize my computer to play a purchased movie. I've done that several times, no go. I've updated, restored and rebooted to no avail. Any suggestions?

As of 7AM Pacific this morning, I was back to normal. Scanning the thread, I think there could be several issues at play here, but it seems that most of us were caught in a failure of the serverside HDCP authentication. Maybe someone kicked out the plug on the way out the door Friday afternoon.

Same here, although I couldn't test until lunch time today (noon easter). Everything working fine now, I changed nothing on my end.

AS of now... 8 March 2012. This issue is still happening - and that is with the latest software update to Apple tv2 and Itunes 10.6 I don't want to have to push purchased movies from my computer I want Apple tv to play them . It is extremely frustrating as this particular error has only occurred(to me) since the much heralded upgrade.

Apple have you been listening? Guess not.

Getting as bad as Microsoft these days

this is still an issue, now magnified by Family Share ... which should allow the easy play of films and shows purchased by family members on the ATV. It does not. So the answer, and one that will have Apple paying for it financially if they don't want to fix it, is to purchase elsewhere. Never had such an issue with Amazon or any other source. Purchase their and then import or convert to iTunes.

So lets fast forward from 30 September 2011 to 31 March 2015:

Dear Mr. Tim Cook: With several years of feedback and seeing the same complaint identified over and over again you would have thought that SOMEONE on the Apple TV Team would have addressed this issue. Well now it is effecting me. I live in Central America where the bandwidth pipe is that of a swizzle stick and very costly. So why would movies that I have purchased thru my iTunes account and have previously played on my Apple TV Gen 2 and My Macbook Air need to be reauthorized? This has been a most frustrating event - it is the only time that I have wished to throw an Apple product against the wall and see it break up into a thousand pieces.

So Mr. Cook, I have in good faith purchased your product and have legally purchased content through your distribution means. So tell me why do I need an internet connection to use Apple TV?

Sincerely,

A VERY FRUSTRATED APPLE TV USER

I am also now having this issue. I have restarted both apple tv2's, de/reauthorized two macs (laptop and desktop),deleted and restored keychains on both machines, and both apple tv's are telling me that I need authorization and to go to iTunes store and authorize this computer using the iTunes id and password used for purchase, which was done and nothing has worked. For Apple's concern: I am also of the opinion that once my machines have been authorized by me using my apple id and password and it has not changed, my devices DO NOT NEED TO ACCESS THE INTERNET or apple to play my content. Purchased content was verified and downloaded that should be all that is required.

Apple TV keeps telling me to Authorize my computer.
