Can't connect to app store...

For the past few days I can't connect to the Appstore or iTunes on any of the family's ipads. I've tried the following:

1) Log out and log in in the settings section.

2) Log out, reset using the 2 buttons and then log back in.

3) Log out from settings and log back in from iBooks

I can login to my account using the PC and iTunes and look at all our purchases, history etc. No problem there!

No matter what I try I keep getting the same message "Cannot connect to iTunes store".

Everything used to work perfectly until a few days ago and then suddenly, all the devices stopped connecting. 😟

Can any one suggest anything I can try please?

iPad, iOS 4.3.2

SpongeBlob-

I may be off base, but your problem sounds like a poor connection between the iPads and your WiFi router.

I suggest you unplug your WiFi router for a few seconds and try again. If no difference, try resetting one of the iPad's network. Go to Settings-General-Reset-Reset Network Settings. You will then need to reconnect to WiFi.

Thanks Fred. I tried that and it made no difference. I also reset the router to factory and then re-loaded all the network settings etc, Still made no difference.

The Network Setting reset didn't make a difference either. All the devices are connecting perfectly to the net, eBay, YouTube etc, but they just don't seem to want to have anything to do with the apps store anymore!!

While the App Store is not connected to Safari - sometimes this can help WiFi connection issues and they are somewhat related since both apps connect via the internet.

Go to Settings>Safari>Cookies and Cache. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.

OK, finally sorted!

It turns out that it was the router. I have some sites blocked with the usual keyword blocking on the router and this has always worked just fine (over a year now) and stopped the kids getting onto some sites that they shouldn't see. All of a sudden, keyword blocking on is stopping access to the appstore!

No words have been added or changed, the router firmware has not been updated but all of a sudden, access to the app store has been killed.

If I turn off keyword blocking, the appstore starts working again!

I have no idea whats causing this and how I can get around it - turning keyword blocking off will allow the kids onto all the sites I don't want them to see. 😟

I cannot download app updates on an Ipad 2 in the US. I have:

  • reset my Apple ID password twice
  • signed out and signed back in.
  • signed out, and signed back in on Game Center (and separately on ibooks)
  • terminated running apps
  • Done a hard reset on ipad (NOT a reset to factory settings)
  • Reset my network settings (Settings/General/Reset)
  • Re-entered my credit card info in my ipad

Nothing has fixed this so far. Do I have a defective ipad 2? How many more are out there with this problem?

I'll call support in the morning, but I've been having the same trouble for literally weeks. Pretty sickening the amount of wasted hours spent trying to actually BUY something. When I finally get them on the phone? I'll be asking for an old fashioned disc first. I simply can not afford the down time to try and get the simple stuff to work. This is why I bought an Apple and changed out from Mr. Bill's products! But now, I see there's just a new universe of issues that never seem to get resolved, and are certainly not resolved quickly. Prodcutivity? My arse!
