For some reason, my system started asking me today for a password everytime I want to move something to the trash. Don't have any idea how this started, but it's very frustrating.
Any ideas on how to fix this?

Yes, but no luck. Fortunately, I dug a bit deeper in these support pages and found a related thread that answered my question. Thanks for your help though John.
FYI, repairing permissions will never solve a problem like this.
