Thunderbolt Display will not wake up after sleep!!!!!!

It seems like a lot of us are having an issue with the THUNDERBOLT DISPLAY opening after it goes to sleep. I have the display connected to a new mac mini server and I can not get it to wake up after it goes to sleep unless I unplug the power or the thunderbolt cable and then plug it back in.

Thunderbolt Display-OTHER, Mac OS X (10.7.1)

UPDATE:

I have through support a work around to this issue that seems to work for me until this gets resolved in a software upgrade. They know that there is an issue with the Thunderbolt display with it waking up when the AUTOMATICALLY ADJUST BRIGHTNESS is checked. I have unchecked this in my display settings and I no longer have the issue. I hope this helps everyone - I was very frustrated by this and hope they fix it soon but Id rather live with adjusting the brightness myself than unplugging all the time. I already has to send one Thunderbolt back because it quit working - That was the original monitor that I had when I started this thread. The new monitor had the same issue as the first where it would not wake up so I called support because I was afraid it would break again if I kept pulling the plug to get it to turn on. I HOPE this works for everyone else.

I've had this problem twice. One this morning on 10.12.2, and once some time in the past. I cannot remember what OS it was on. May have been 10.11.X might have been a 10.2.X. If it was the latter it was definitely not 10.12.2. To be clear I've had it once on 10.12.2 (this morning) and once not on 10.12.2.

I can say i've seen weird stuff mid release. Like in *one* point release of 10.11 they removed the battery remaining from the keyboard and mouse portions of the system preferences for the Apple Keyboard and Magic Mouse. So it wouldn't surprise me if they have fixed it once and old code worked it's way in.

I have similar issue with an Apple external monitor connecting via Thunderbolt cable.

I disconnect my Macbook everyday so in the following morning I have to re-connect my Macbook to the monitor and start it up again. After the stage of login, my system goes to sleep and I cannot wake it up anymore. I have to disconnect the monitor, close the lid and wake the Macbook up with power button.

My workaround is to login on the Macbook successfully then connect to the monitor. Since then if it goes to sleep, I still can wake it up.

Is there anyone has a solution for this as my colleague doesn't have this issue with the same setup. Thanks!

Hi there, after much exhaustion, and trial, the only thing that fixed was replacing the MacBook Air. It worked flawlessly for a year... until yesterday. I started having problems again. It seems to have something to do with the power to the Mac. Sometimes it now doesn't charge when I plug it in securely.

I wish I had better news!

I have tried most of the settings - Including:

Allow Bluetooth devices to wake this computer under BLUETOOTH ADVANCED SETTINGS

AND

Wake for network access under ENERGY SAVER

None of these things work. When I hit a key or click the moust the DELL U2410 that I have comes on but the THUNDERBOLT monitor does not. I am connecting the THUNDERBOLT with the thunderbolt cable and the dell with an HDMI cable.

I sold my display after owning it two months. It never worked reliably. I think Apple released an unfinished product in this case. Various problems with Sound in and out, iSight cam worked sometimes and sometimes not. Network sometimes never was available. Sometimes it didn't wake up properly.

I now have the older 24" display and it works perfect, every time. Just as it should.

I have similar problems. If I plug in an already booted MBP (late 2011) it does not see the USB ports on the display. If I sleep the computer sometimes it will not wake at all and has to be hard rebooted. This has been going oin since I got the display with my MBP in late 2011. Apple has known about these problems for a while with no fix. Sure wish they would fix it. Thought maybe the just released firmaware update would resolve the issue but there is no mention of it and it still seems to be happending.

This just recently started happening to me (like a couple weeks ago).

It's weird, sinve I've been using the same setup since I got my thunderbolt display (macbook air).

I updated to Mountain Lion, but I don't thgink the issue started happening with Mountain Lion (maybe one of the recent Mountain Lion caused it?)

The issue I started experiencing is that the display won't wake up from sleep, and I need to reboot my Air for the display to work again 😟

I tried changing the settings to uncheck the Put hard disks to sleep when possible, but that didn't fix the problem.

Should also be noted that once in a blue moon, the display will wake up from sleep.

Apple, how do we get you to fix this? I don't have time to call support during the day, and it looks like you decided to shut down email support 😟

Thunderbolt Display will not wake up after sleep!!!!!!
