hey -

i'm well aware that the iphone simulator doesn't support the camera, but is there a way (through nslog or other) to test whether or not the code for the camera even works?

many thanks in advance.

    What does 'even works' mean?

The simulator is not an emulator. If it doesn't support what you're testing, it doesn't support it....no work-arounds, bandaids, hacks, secret handshakes, almost-in-good-enoughs, easter eggs, hidden idols...give it up.

Test on a device, like real devs, so your customers in the store don't do your work for you.

hey la muchacho, I know this a bit old but I see your point. Not everyone has a real iPod touch, iPhone, iPad, iPad & iPhone retina, etc, etc running iOS 5, 6, etc or whatever to test all scenarios.

Not all real devs test in real devices unless you're rich enough to own all possible devices

I'm looking for a way to get my apps tested on simulators too, even with functions that are only available in proper devices only. Will keep searching.

    Good luck!

You need to learn what the iOS Simulator is.

Until then, you are wasting your time.

Don't get me wrong but I think you have lost the point of the conversation here.

I didn't say I am expecting the simulator to act like the hardware.

You should learn to read what others say so you don't waste your time posting useless comments in this forum.

    You said:

You'll never find any way to do that.

    It's not possible.

It's well understood that the simulator does not do that by default. What I mean by saying "will keep searching" is to create myself something similar to what Android simulator does.

"You'll never find any way to do that." and "It's not possible." is usually where most developers stop.
