test camera in simulator?

hey -

i'm well aware that the iphone simulator doesn't support the camera, but is there a way (through nslog or other) to test whether or not the code for the camera even works?

many thanks in advance.

This topic makes me cry. It's unbelievable. I don't want to deal with the real device every time I want to run my app... I don't care about most details, and it'll be really great to be able to set image or video to be used in simulator.

What does 'even works' mean?

The simulator is not an emulator. If it doesn't support what you're testing, it doesn't support it....no work-arounds, bandaids, hacks, secret handshakes, almost-in-good-enoughs, easter eggs, hidden idols...give it up.

Test on a device, like real devs, so your customers in the store don't do your work for you.

hey la muchacho, I know this a bit old but I see your point. Not everyone has a real iPod touch, iPhone, iPad, iPad & iPhone retina, etc, etc running iOS 5, 6, etc or whatever to test all scenarios.

Not all real devs test in real devices unless you're rich enough to own all possible devices 🙂

I'm looking for a way to get my apps tested on simulators too, even with functions that are only available in proper devices only. Will keep searching.

Good luck!

It's well understood that the simulator does not do that by default. What I mean by saying "will keep searching" is to create myself something similar to what Android simulator does.

"You'll never find any way to do that." and "It's not possible." is usually where most developers stop.
