These are the extensions that I found

.DMG

.EXE

.MPKG

.XUL

.PDF

.DAT

.PKG

.DOC

.ICS

.MP3

The pdf, & doc are easy, and the others are already installed. Th

The MP3 concerns me since I don't want to lose the music. It is already in my iTunes library, so deleting the download will remove the song?

Just trying to clean up the download folder so it is easier to find stuff

Thanks evceryone!

According the .mp3:

1) Start iTunes

2) Click iTunes->Preferences

3) Select Advanced

4) Make sure you check the box: Copy files to iTunes Media folder...

If that box is checked you should be able to delete the .mp3s in your download folder without losing the songs.

.exe should not work under mac, those are windows only binarys.

.ics are some iCal entrys. You should check if those contain important events or not before deleting.

.mpkg/.pkg is an installer ~same as .dmg.

.xul never heard.

.dat better not delete. Many programs use .dat files. It seems you started a program inside your Downloads folder which created that file (and may need it again)

Well, I believe your questions about the file formats have already been answered? I've got on suggestion re. the mp3's: just to make sure they are where they are supposed to be, throw the ones in the Downloads folder in the trash. Then open iTunes to make sure they are there and play. If they are not, you can simply drag them into iTunes window.

And, I find it much easier to download things to my desktop: that way, it is a reminder for me to install it or file it somewhere. Once done, I delete the installer.
