Just an observation. This really looks like a great opportunity to provide a localized TimeMachine solution. How nice would it be to have a drive built into the display. This would allow TM backups to the display. For users with laptops, this is very convienent.

Backing up data is a choice though, and if you consider how many people don't actually do it, it would be an extra cost on Apple's end to put another drive in there that sometimes won't be used at all.
It all comes down to cost, really. Useful? Yes. Extra expenses involved? Unfortunately, yes.
I agree with lupunus: ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT! What a boon... even better for MacBookAir users!

However, I wonder whether the price of the extra drive(s) would be as hard on the bank account if YOU add them as if Apple adds them to the already thousand dollar (without drives) TB Display?
