It is alreadey on your computer. The Mac OS is running on a unix kernel. Open your Terminal (Applications > Utilities) and enter the following command:
cd ~/Destop
vim first_test.txt
i
first test
<esc> :wq
ls
you will see the new file on your desktop: first_test.txt
But there are also some binary applications of emacs and vim, which you may install.

If you want emacs and would like a little more GUI bling than the curses-based version shipped with OSX then try Aquamacs. This gives you a Macified version of emacs. It seems to work pretty well.
