Will the iPhone 4 support the new Siri integration?

I am aware of the minor new features in the new iPhone 4S, but am wondering if Siri will be in the iPhone 4 when ios 5 comes out next Wednesday.

iPhone 4, iOS 4.2.7, 16GB CDMA Black

Just to remind those that say "the processor of the IP 4/3GS can't handle it" ...

Please read all the post before repeating what has already been said.

Your points have been covered many times.

If it was all about the processor then the iPad 2 would have Siri.

It sounds like you are already a Windows user, so there probably was no need to tell Apple that you are staying with Windows.

And Microsoft is a good choice, they are not greedy at all. 😉

acadia1106 wrote: Anyway, back to the point, Siri can run on the iphone 4, quite easily, Apple just wants to force you to upgrade that's it, nothing else to it.

Or possibly that Siri is Beta software that has not been released on all platforms or devices.

The other option is we ask for it on all iOS Devices, and wait till it works.

There has only been one report I have seen that someone got from Apple Engineering that said they currently don't plan support older hardware.

But that is no press release or official word.

But your panic and crying could also work.... 😢

kiwiphone4, clearly, I am not simply a windows user or I wouldn't have an Iphone at all ... I also have an Ipad, a mac mini, kindle , etc ... etc ... a linux box, and so on ... I don't hold allegiance to a company , I hold allegiance to whether a product is good and does what I need it to do. It's no more complicated than that for me.

If Apple does something well, I say so, if windows does something well , I say so, or who ever, it really doesn't matter to me. The bottom line is to get a product that fits my needs. As stated, there is no reason, other than Apples business decision to keep Siri as iphone 4s, because, the fact is as a product the 4s is simply lacking any major features of note to really seperate itself from the 4. The processor is the biggest change but again it isn't really that important to todays apps and most of the power for the A5 (ARM Cortex A9) is geared towards improving graphics processing. But this is neither here nor there, in the case of Siri there is nothing the technically preventing the product from working on the 4 and working well, it's not a processor intensive application atleast on the client side, the client being the phone.

They aren't supporting older hardware because as stated the 4s needs a selling point, something tangible, because from a hardware standpoint the 4s isn't much of a change, had the 4s come with LTE, NFC, etc ... ok then Apple had some selling points, it didn't , so it doesn't, so they've got no choice but to try and differentiate by saying Siri only on the 4s. But again there is no technical reason behind it, what so ever. It's purely business economics and greed that simple.

I always loved the iphone but im hating APPLE since the release of 4S ! okay u gave them a better camera and stuff. i dont mind all that !!!

But limiting the software "Siri" just to the 4S is very UNETHICAL !!

There are millions of haters of APPLE. i am NOT one of them. i believe in their technology and the great vision of Steve Jobs

but this Limitation is a very cheap strategy to sell your phone.

and has made ME "A LOYAL APPLE USER" .... thinking for an secondary option for mobile phones. 😟

Dec 31, 2011 3:42 AM in response to Matrix X2

i agree...the limitation of siri to 4s is only marketing. i think that so doing apple will lose a lot of users (even me that i'm a very apple fan). it's not possibile to say that siri is not portable on older devices cause the low specs, and after a certain time to see a full unofficial and complete working porting by other men. It's simply a shame, and so doing in the future, i'll buy something else (i have an iphone 4, an iPad 2 and an iMac, but i don't want to buy a 4s, and next year, if apple don't change it way of think to the user as a money machine, i'll see to other phones and pc (samsung cronos and galaxy).

Buddy i guess you are not aware that an Unofficial port is already out and working

I cannot tell u more about it as that is illegal. but i have seen it in action on my friends iphone. but it is not so stable.

I am waiting for apple to stop playing its marketing gimmicks and start thinking for the consumers.

Android sales are rising. if Apple keep dissapointing their customers like this. APPLE will fall 😟

Apple please dont be proud of the patents u hold. that is not going to keep you alive. Be generous and give SIRI to everyone asap !!!

There is a reason this topic has reached 12 pages. and many such topics around this and other external forums.

You are digging a hole to bury yourself. dont make such small mistakes.

You do know ANDROID made IRIS in 8 hours after Siri ...the droids will comeup with something better soon.

Give us Iphone 4 users SIRI .. and all the lower platforms too.

Totally agree!

It was not by chance that this post has reached 12 pages in a short period of time. There is a lot of frustration going on and if Apple let trend rise, there will be a lot of drop outs from its ecossystem.

I won't do jailbreaking on my phone. Jailbreak is not that stable and I won't risk to get stuck in a emergency situation. With the iPad I don't see too much problem though.

I must confess am getting tired of being tied up to this closed model.

If I do not have access to new system software (also as payable upgrades), I will get out of this JAIL very soon. 😠
