Will the iPhone 4 support the new Siri integration?

I am aware of the minor new features in the new iPhone 4S, but am wondering if Siri will be in the iPhone 4 when ios 5 comes out next Wednesday.

iPhone 4, iOS 4.2.7, 16GB CDMA Black

That's fine and dandy so explain the tons of people who are running siri now on their iphone 4's including myself. Feel to drink the coolaid if you like. It's a software constraint it has absolutely nothing to do with the hardware. Siri doesn't allow iphone 4's to run Siri because they have software limited it, it requires an iphone 4s security token. No more complicated than that. NOw go away you neophyte.

Apple's A5 processor includes noise-reduction circuitry licensed from a start-up called Audience, and a chip analyst believes that fact resolves an iPhone 4S mystery and explains why the iPhone 4 lacks the Siri voice-control system.

If you've never heard of Audience, don't sweat it: It's a start-up, but it powers Apple's noise-reduction circuity. Audience did, however, recently file its IPO. As part of that, the company revealed that its iPhone 4-era technology only works well when the phone is held near the speaker's mouth. The noise-reduction technology built into the iPhone 4S, however, is far better. It can cope with what Audience calls "far-field speech."

By the way, "they" (big brohter?) just removed my previous post. As it "never existed". I did not insulted anybody or "any" company. But they removed it. This is not a place for free speech. Forget it.

But natual rules, if my post was that bad, others would complain and it would be just insignificant. But "they" decided to "remove it"!.... It is fun. Because it sounds just like what we can reand on 1984... I mean the very same book that inspited the so famous add commercial from a very famous company I do not dare to mention here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nineteen_Eighty-Four

You are confusing your right, protected by the government, to free speech (within limitations) in the public and what goes on in a private site owned by someone else. This is an Apple corporate site and you agreed to their rules when you joined here. They enforced those rules.

No different than if you came into my house and decided to use profanity around children and I asked you to leave. And forced you to do so when you didn't comply.

You do realize that siri was an app that has existed since the iphone 3gs? And it's utter BS to say there is a chip needed to run on iphone 4 or 3gs, right?

You realize the Windows has existed since the late 1980's right? It's utterly ridiculous to say that a modern processor is required to run it now! I used to run it on my IBM PC XT just fine! Whey can't I run Windows 7 on my PC XT now! It's an outrage I tell you! An outrage!

You realize that, if you still had your IBM PC XT, your old build of windows would still work?
On the other hand, the Siri app was DISABLED on October 15th. It no longer functions on those old devices AT ALL.

But we didnt pay for it, so we cant say a whole lot...

You would think they could keep it in the app store, and call it "Siri Lite" or something like that. No voice prompts, and no integration, none of the advanced features, just allow "legacy support" which would give us the stripped down version we had access to.

Why they did not approve Voice Answers, an App from SparklingApps, a serius App developer?

It was said that this App is "too much like Siri". So Opera Browser App is not "just like Safari"? How many calendars and note taking Apps exists in the App Store?

There is not a clear rule. The rules are changing during the game. It is like to forbid a homerun in the middle of a baseball game just because the host team think it is best for it.

I always used to think the strongest thing about apple was the consistency of the OS and the long-term support for the hardware through continued updates to the software. Now its obvious that if your device is 2 or even one version out of date you can forget it. the net result is I now hold on for the hardware I really really want rather than just buying the current offering knowing it will be supported through a program of updates - but I think iOS has changed the way apple thinks.

Maybe the networked world machine has decided it needs to evolve faster and become independant of humans before the methane on the bottom of the sea boils dry????

Just kidding - there isnt enough time left.

I agree. It is wrong for Apple to ban voice-based applications on the App store considering they do not plan to support Siri on iPhone 4 -- They should offer a trade-in instead of forcing us to use our obsolete (by their design) products (less than a year old!) as ultra-expensive paper-weights, and force us to purchase entire hardware solutions (at overinflated price points) to utilize their software features.

I have had an iMac since 2007 and it has no difficulty keeping up with current software/operating system (OSX).

Why does Apple not have the capability to offer the same longevity in their other hardware offerings!?

Will the iPhone 4 support the new Siri integration?
