how to completely reset a macbook pro (to new) but leave a program

how do i completely wipe my mac so its like new but still keep one program (logic express).

i don't have the cd anymore so dont want to completely remove it but unfortunately my macs got to a point where i'm just not happy with it.

the speed is slow, and some software online (google+ in particular) just brakes it.

please let me know if this is possible

You can back up your system with Time Machine and then restore the application when you finish a clean install of OS X.

ah, i thought time machine just reinstalled everything ? or can i pick and choose what it reinstalls?

e.g. itunes library and logic (as this is all i really use haha)

You can pick and choose manually, or you can boot from the OS X DVD and have Time Machine restore a complete system if you want, but judging by your post you didn't want to do this, you wanted to just keep one application.
