Lion incoming mail problem

Everybody (Apple) please help,

Since I upgraded to Lion, I am not able to receive pop-mail!!!

I didn't chance anything concerning, my Snow Leopard, account settings.

There is a massage, when I click the triangle behind Incoming, it says: 'There is probably a problem with my mail server or network.

And the server returned a fault, saying the POP-server is not compatible with password - identity control.

I should check my account info and try again'.

I did and all is ok, I didn't change anything in the first place.

I erased the e-mail account and made a new one. I thought maybe things got corrupted during the upgrade but that didn't work either.

So I need help. It is obvious a Lion problem and because the upgrade created it, maybe Apple can fix it.

But they probably they won't, so is there any one out there, who can offer me the solution?
