Airport Extreme and WAN Static IP

I have reciently purchased a static WAN IP for a network that has IP address issued to all the computers in the intranet to include a server. The problem is when I attempt to configure my airport extreme with the static ip, I receive an error message stating; "The router address you have entered is not compatable with your WAN IP address. All my intranet start out with the standard 192.168.X.XXX.

Is there anyone out there with a workable solution other than reissuing ip's to my LAN?

Your AirPort basically has only one option where NAT is enabled: (By default) Connection Sharing = Share a public IP address. This can be used in situations where your ISP provides you with either a dynamic or static Public IP address. The only difference is how you configure the AirPort for either of these Public IP address types.

For a Dynamic Public IP address: Configure IPv4 = Using DHCP
For a Static Public IP address: Configure IPv4 = Manually

With NAT enabled, you will be able to share this Public IP address via NAT & DHCP to network clients on the local network.

On the other hand, if your goal is to provide a number of local network clients with Public IP addresses, then you will want to choose the Connection Sharing = Distribute a range of IP addresses. In this case, NAT would be disabled, but the AirPort's DHCP server would still be used to distribute the ISP-provided static Public IP addresses to the local network clients.
