I tried to follow the instructions on an old post
and copied messages from a mailbox "ON MY MAC" to my desktop,
before I deleted the mailbox, just in case I needed them back.
I deleted it because a rule I made in preferences did not work.
It grabbed many more messages than I expected,
and I could not put those messages back in the inbox,
even after changing the rule.
Now I do need them back in Mail.
I dragged the message folder from the mailbox in Finder,
not holding the option key down. 1st oops! (using Finder)
They are from a POP account.
They are not stored in Time Machine since I use TM manually,
as it is causing problems for me.
(Apparently I need to do an erase and install Snow Leopard,
but that is a whole other post To Do.)
I added and deleted the mailbox without backing up. 2nd oops!
These are my most important messages, from friends and family.
Can anyone help?
