If you want you can press transfer purchases and it will transfer the purchases fom you device onto your computer therefore allowing you to sync without hassle

It means it will erase all the data on your device and replace it with the data on your computer.

It will transfer your purchases to iTunes, do this before syncing. If you have content on the iPod that wasn't purchased you will need to find a 3rd party program to transfer those.

uh just a question i have done transfering i think and when i go to apps on my menu on itunes its faded so i click on a box thats next to it and it say 'are you sure you want to sync? all exsisting apps on ipod touch will be replaced with this library" does it mean it will get rid of all my apps on my ipod? then i decided to get backup for it just in case and i dont know where to look for it? can you help me?

From the message you received, it sounds like you are trying to sync to a different iTunes library. When you do that iTunes will erase your iPod and rplace its contents with what is in the new iTunes library.  A backup does not contain the apps themselves or music. Yu can transfer iTunes purchases to the iTunes library by:

iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer
