I'm trying to pre-order the iPhone 4s as an upgrade to my existing account with AT& T. I'm having problems on ordering this. can anyone help?

I'm having the same issue. The Apple site doesn't recognize my family plan. I called support, but they said they can't guarantee what plan ATT will put me in if I upgrade both phonees that are currently on my family plan. This doesn't "Just work".
Wonder if it would work to do separate orders? I have a family plan as well but we only upgraded my phone. One of the other phones in the plan was upgraded a few months ago and the other isn't ready to do it yet. So, it might be a pain for you--doing the separate order processes, but it might work.
I ordered two for my plan. The only issue I had was the system not allowing me to add both to the cart at the same time. I added one, then went to get the other to check out at the same time, but it would not let me. I had to save one, check out, then retrieve the saved one and check out again.
I thought about doing this as well, but when I order both phones the voice plan prices is the same for both. No where does it say the 2nd phone is on the family plan for $9.99. I could roll the dice and order both and trust that ATT won't screw it up. But then again I don't have that much faith in ATT.
I finally decided to order my iPhone from Apple Store which I apparently did. Then I went to AT&T website and purchased another iphone for my family plan as it gave me an option to upgrade the family member's phone alone!! That was pretty dumb way to do that but I didn't have another option. Then I physically went up to the AT&T Store to confirm that I'm not being screwed over!!. They said what I did was fine!... That's was a lame answer though!!
I was able to buy 2 - but I had to make 2 separate transactions at the apple store (we have AT&T family plan).
I ordered the 1st with my wife's phone # and then went in and ordered mine. I got the 1st confirmation e-mail in 5 min. The 2nd came over 12 hours later.
I sweated the 2nd phone a bit - even calling the Apple Help line (not so much help...)
How can pre-order multiple iPhones for an existing AT&T Family plan?
