There is no iPod Touch 5th gen. So everything you may have heard about the iPod Touch 4th gen (released last year) is what you will get.

iPhone 4 (current model) and the iPhone 4S (shipping in a few days) has a cell phone, better camera, GPS, larger battery, is able to transfer data over celular 3G network, faster CPU, faster graphics processor, more working RAM. The iPhone 4S will have the Siri voice activated assistant.

An iPod Touch does not require a contract, so once you spend the money, there are no additional charges (except if you buy apps). Buying a used iPhone, it can be used as an iPod Touch'ish device, although you may need to jail break it. You are jail breaking it, because it assumed you are not going to get a cell phone contract. If you are going to get a cell phone contract, then an iPhone would be better all around.

first, the pod itouch 5 is same as ipod touch 4. its all about ur preference. i wouldnt buy a second hand electronics. iphone 4 n itouch 5 have same fuction n almost similar. iphone can make calls, has 3g(access internet wherever ur in) + sms which i touch cant. but if u ask ipod touch 5 or iphone 4s, i'd always say iphone 4s. faster processor, siri n so on.

i've told you that i have a phone to speak and if i would want 3g i can get a contract with my current phone. I am from Romania so there are no good offers at contracts i mean with about 65$/month/2year i buy iphone 4 with 200$. I wanted to say that i can't afford iphone 4 or 4s at the moment. Just iphone 4 second hand which is doubtful. Yes ipod touch 5 is like ipod touch 4 but is cheaper. So please answer the question in the original post. iPhone 4 second hand OR iPod touch 5 + Nokia C3?

Personally, I would go with a used iPhone 4, assuming it was in good shape and the battery was in good condition.

The iPhone 4 vs the iPod Touch 4th gen, the iPhone 4 has a much better camera, longer battery life, and GPS. If it replaces your Nokia, the iPhone can use some apps that an iPod Touch cannot, because this class of apps needs a cell phone service.

Finally, if you use the iPhone as a phone, it is one less thing to carry.

However, you still have to decide if the trade-offs are right for you.

I'll see what happens with the prices of iPhone 4. If the price will fall down a bit probably i'll buy one. If it stay still probably i'll buy a iPod touch 5th. If i go to the 2nd choice i'll have a ptoblem : I cant buy a new itouch 5 from romania with the price shown on apple store coz of resellers. itouch 4 8gb costs about 350$, so....that's why i'm in troubles 😀
