Accidently erased most of my contacts on my phone. Is there a way to retrieve them???

I deleted all my Windows contacts as they were very old and I didn't want them to load back onto my iPhone. BIG mistake. When I hooked my phone up tonight to sync, it deleted all except about 30 of my contacts. How can I retrieve ALL my contacts from my phone or are they gone forever??? 😟
