Why was the eMac phased out?

I was thinking of getting an eMac to replace and aging pentium 3 desktop at my parents house. But anytime i click buy it now i get taken to the apple store of which there are no emacs present. Have they been totally replaced by the Mac mini/iMac desktops?

If you're still interested in an eMac, they do appear from time to time in the refurbs section of the Apple Store. I think Apple is still making them for schools.

I just bought a new eMac through Mac Warehouse last month. It arrived in only a few days. It replaced my old original 'teal' iMac that I dearly loved, and I got to transfer all my files!
The newer-style replacement of the Mac's are more expensive, but less desk space, and have the 'newer' look to compete with the current market (as I was told my the Apple dealer in my town).
