dish network dvr contents to Ipad

We have Dish Network, and would like to know if I can transfer my DVR contents to an Ipad to watch on the plane when traveling. The only thing I know of is TV Anywhere by Dish, but that won't work because you need an internet connection. Has anybody done this ? Thanks so much John

There is no practical way to do this at present. Your recordings on the Dish DVR are encrypted and can't be exported or converted to any format that the iPad will play. Dish's solution to this is to use Slingplayer to remotely watch something from your DVR on the iPad. This works quite well but it does so by streaming the content over the internet while you are watching so you can only use it when you have access to an internet connection.

Coincindentally press reports today indicate that Direct TV will offer equivalent capability to Slingplayer but allowing DVR recordings to be downloaded and watched on mobile devices which might allow you to do what you want (but would require switching to DirecTV).
