Does the AirPort create a wireless? Or it just join one?

I just wanna know what the airport does. Does it create a wireless, or join one, I mean, if I'm travelling, I bring my AirPort to the hotel and plug in, is it going to create a wireless?

If you are traveling with the AirPort Express, the hotel or place that you are staying will need to have an Ethernet port so that you can connect the AirPort Express using an Ethernet cable.

Then the AirPort Express can be configured to "create" a wireless network and you will have your own private wireless network with Internet access in the room.

If the hotel does not provide an Ethernet port, then having an AirPort Express along will be of no real value.
