HDMI to iMac?

I was wondering if there is a way to connect my Xbox to my iMac through the HDMI cable for the highest quality? Or if there is way to connect my Xbox to my iMac with at least 720p coming through? I know I can use n Easycap or a dazzle, but I was wondering if there was another way, as these are not the best quality. I don't want to pay too much either. Could someone maybe tell me the best thing to use?

Thankyou

Second, for Target Display Mode (as Apple calls it) the iMac only accepts DisplayPort-compliant signals which HDMI is not.

HDMI is comparable to DVI.

The cable from Amazon you mentioned can be used for video-signal from your iMac to an external display but not the other way.

What is Target Display mode?

Kanex has a HDMI converter http://www.kanexlive.com/xd

The Intensity requires your iMac to have a ThunderBolt port which is only in the 2011 iMac models.

From your original question I assumed you have an "older" iMac with a MiniDisplayPort.

Other than that it looks like a very interesting piece for not only getting HDMI ito a Mac but for video-editing as well.

Sorry for the confusion, I should have said. I know the older iMacs have a display port. I was just trying to find something for the newer 2011 models. Would the "Intesity Extreme" do the job?

Yep, that's the 2011.

Like said, it looks like a fine piece for you have in mind, but until it is released and hopefully tested one can only assume what its features really can.

Its technical specs clearly show potential far above all other currently in the market.

And BlackMagic is reknown in the field of video-editing.

If you can wait like you said, then do so.
