iPod classic 80gb froze up

Never happened before, I'm transcribing a tune, and hitting the rewind a lot, and it just froze up. There are no alert icons - nuthin. Hold button is not on. Just frozen in middle of tune. Menu button doesn't work. Had this iPod for quite a while and this never happened. Plugged into MacBook, charger AND USB, and iTunes does not come on, so it's not recognizing it(?) Help!
