There is no 7th Gen iPod. There is a 6th Gen iPod with a 1.2 firmware update. It does not have built in bluetooth.

My intention is the same too: "Wireless headphones" without using any adapter.
Yes, the newest nano, gen 7 is now released and has Bluetooth 4.0 built into and doesn't require an adapter.
