Google's 2-step verification is a system that makes you enter a special passcode (a constantly changing code that updates every minute) once every 30 days on any given machine, in addition to your normal password. If cookies are deleted, you have to re-enter the passcode even if 30 days isn't up. You get this code either by iphone/android app or by text message.
Anyways, 2-step verification also prevents you from using your normal password on special apps, e.g. FCPX. For FCPX, you need to generate an "application-specific password" under your google account settings. It only consists of letters and numbers, so this should circumvent the problem of having symbols in your normal password.
Any of the application-specific passwords can be revoked by the user at any time for security reasons and/or paranoia.
