Q: How to connect Mac Pro to Laserwriter IINT not on a network?

I would like to connect my stand-a-lone Laserwriter NTII to my new Macbook Pro. Can this be done via some cable adapter via USB to serial or other connection. I do not have a network available.

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

Sorry, but unless someone else here can think of a workaround I can't, you will not be able to use a LaserWriter IINT with a Snow Leopard system The IINT was an AppleTalk printer and Snow Leopard dropped all support for AppleTalk. Snow Leopard also lacks drivers for the IINT. Time to put that old LaserWriter out to pasture, I fear.

    Regards.

I was afraid that might be the case; just like me, we are both in the pasture, now!

Thanks for your reply. I am currently using an HPphotosmart 1215 and the molasses printing is so slow as I think about the old NT in the closet and the crisp black and white speed it produced with my LC, LC II, Bondi Blue, and Smoke Imacs. I guess it is time to refresh the HP as well. Thanks, again.

We found it cheaper to replace rather than cludge a fix for our Mac network. The Brother DCP 7065 turned out to be a good choice for our mixed network of Mac and PC's. It's got built in ethernet and is a full duplex B&W printer. All the Macs see it on the network just fine it is also a scanner and photo copier and it was under $100 Canadian.

Thanks, for the follow up info. I will look into the Brother as a replacement unit.
