Spacebar rattles when clicking.
Occasionally my spacebar rattles (quietly but noticably) when I click on my touchpad. This happens about 1/3 of the time.
I have also noticed that it depends on what "position" the spacebar is in. Meaning, when you touch the spacebar the large plastic part and the inner mechanical linkages shift position by an infintesimal amount (not even noticable by eye). I have deduced this by noticing that the rattling will stop when I lightly touch and then remove my finger from the spacebar.
I think that when the components are in a certain one of these "positions" one of the pieces has a little bit of wiggle room and will move (and thereby create the rattling noise) in response to the vibrations of a touchpad click travelling through the case of the computer.
Has anyone else noticed this phemonina? It can be mildly annoying.
Apple: This might be fixed by decreasing manufacturing tolerances on the keyboard parts, by better quality control (if my case is just a fluke), or perhaps by applying to the pieces some sort of coating that has damping properties but yet does not impare keyboard functionality. These procedures might only need to be applied to the spacebar even.
