Time wrong when synching with iphone

So I have a MBP, and I use iCal quite a bit to organise my day. I often put times on my events but have this problem that whenever I sync my iphone, the times are always one hour behind. That is, an event I set to begin at, say, 12am on my computer, becomes 1pm on the iphone. Why is this? I've even set the time zone on iCal to UK time and I have changed the time settings on my iphone from automatic to UK. This hasn't solved the problem either.
