She have an iphone 4 as well. As do I. We thought it was because she is with a different carrier but we shared contacts with other friends that are with the same carrier as I am( I am with Rogers, She is with Telus ) and it worked. She is sharing by going into her contacts and selecting share contact. I lost all of my contacts and this is the easy way my friends are hooking me up with contacts but it is bothering us both why it says that.

Kimmy,

Did you restore your iPhone from a backup when it was renewed?

If so, you could have transferred over bad SQLite database files, which the iPhone attempts to use when "sharing the contact"

If you are still having this problem (heck or even still friends, this is an old thread), try:

  1. Plug iPhone into your main computer with iTunes, i.e. the one that has your music, movies, apps, etc.
  2. Make a note of the name of the iPhone, i.e. "Kimmy's iPhone". You will need to change this.
  3. Transfering all purchases to iTunes by right-clicking on the iPhone in the left navigation bar.
  4. Afterwards, backup your contacts to Address Book, Google, iCloud, or some other service.
  5. Restore your iPhone by clicking the Restore button in iTunes. Do NOT Restore from Backup afterwards. Setup the iPhone as a new iPhone in iTunes or through iCloud interface. Name it something different from your previous name, i.e. Kimmmy's iPhone, K1mmy's 1phone, FooBar's iPhone, etc.
  6. Ask your friend to create vCards for you by exporting a group of contacts

For instance, ask her to group contacts in "Kimmy's Friends" in Google/Gmail, Address Book, or Outlook.

  7. Email the vCards to you. Preferably in vCard format from Address Book, but Google's export and Outlook should work.
  8. Finally, plug in the iPhone to iTunes and select the tabs one at a time, checking the box to sync your purchased items, or get on wifi and goto App Store, iTunes --> Updates --> Purchased --> Download All or just download what you want again.

It will probably take a few hours, but it's worth it when you're having weird errors. It should just work, no?

Good luck.
