As most of us here know, the new iOS 5 has just come out, and I was wondering if i is possible to upgrade my 2008 iPhone 3G (not 3GS) to iOS 5. Is there any way I can configure my iPhone to run it? Or should I just get an iPhone 4S? Any answers would be much appreciated.

The option to update without the computer (Over the air) was made available with iOS 5. If your iDevice is using a version of iOS lower than 5, you will need to use iTunes on your syncing computer to perform the upgrade. Use the Apple link below as a guide for the upgrade.
If you're asking how to update to iOS 5 instead of to iOS 6.2.1 (the current version as of this writing), you can not do so.
