Was just wondering if anyone knew if the Iphone 3GS will have imessage with the new IOS 5 update? and also what else will the 3GS get with the update as i know it won't have everything

Apple hasn't said anything specific as of yet as to which features other than Siri, if any, of iOS 5 will be limited only to specific iPhone models. Stay tuned until tomorrow and iOS 5 is released.

Yes, the iPhone 3GS will get iMessage when you upgrade to iOS5
Yes. The 3Gs will get everything the 4 gets and everything the 4S gets except Siri. Of course, you will not get things like a faster processor or better camera.
Early performance testing does indicate that iOS 5 is substantially faster than 4.3.5 on the 3Gs and 4.

My daughters use our old 3GS iPhones as glorified iPod Touches. They have both found in good Wi-Fi environments they can use Find a Friend App to iMessage to their friends that have iPhones or iPod Touches that have upgraded to iOS5. Once they have started iMessage, then they can continue conversations using the Text App, all using the unlimited character text of iMessage. Can NOT iMessage to a non-iPhone as they don't have SIM cards with phone numbers in these iPhone 3GS's.
