Ipod 2nd gen wont charge?

Hey, I have two 2nd Gen Ipod Touches. One was water damages, and the backlight wasnt working, but it was still usable. The other was working fine until around 2 weeks ago. When i went to charge it (I usually charge while plugged into the laptop), it took around 15 minutes before itunes recognised it and it started charging. It worked fine after that. But, last week, i went to charge it and it simply would not charge. I tried using the wall charger, leaving it connected, and swapping the charger and wire. Still not charging. I then went to charge the other iPod (the one with water damage) and that would not charge either.

They were both charging fine before, and they both stopped. I have no idea why, could anybody help me as to why this could have happened and how i can fix it?

The iPod (not the water damaged one) often went unresponsive for 5 or 10 minutes at a time, and once greyed out the wifi. Could this have anything to do with it?
