Q: Auto hide taskbar not working with iTunes 10.5 & Windows 7

Anyone else having problems with Auto-hide Taskbar not working when iTunes is open and the active window? Was working fine with previous versions including the beta of 10.5 I had. Is this a general problem or just me? Im using Windows 7 64bit for what its worth.

iTunes, Windows 7

New year, same problems. Add my name to the list, Win7 x64, latest iTunes.  I do remember Google Chrome used to have this problem but they were pretty prompt in fixing it. I guess Google has better application support than Apple does. (Maybe that'll get them listening.)

After this many updates with no change I'm guessing we're stuck with it this way.

    Seriously. Not. Cool.

I've taken to keeping my window unmaximized, since usually I'm only looking at it for the length of time it takes me to pick a new track to listen to, or update my iPod. So it's not that much of an inconvenience anymore (although I don't shop at the iTunes store anymore, either, because of this) but come on, Apple. It's the principle of the thing.

Pretty cool. I just got an iTunes update from 10.5.2.11 to 10.5.3.3. I'm sure the maximize bug is fixed.....wait....oh, it's not.

Hmm. A bit of deja vu here? This is pretty pathetic.

And the list with this same problem just keeps on growing.  Please, Apple, correct this seemingly minor problem.

well, 10.5.3.3 has tried to fix it - but it now works fully sometimes, and at other times, is worse than before!

My workaround was to run Itunes in a slightly reduced window, this way I could get the task bar up.

Now, when Itunes has decided not to show the taskbar when maximized, it doesn't even show the task bar when reduced.

How long has this been going on for? Does no one test this software?

Also having this problem - despite there not being many posters here this is clearly a universal problem for Windows users and simply not many have the taskbar auto-hide enabled.

Is it possible to get some feedback on this from an Apple employee?

I presume it could be a Microsoft problem too, however it would be nice to get some clarification for which company we should complain to at least.

    Thanks in advance,

    Sam

P.S. It always worries me a little when cases of competition between your two companies is fought in incompatibility. Competition is good - that's Apples core message (pun intended) isn't it? It would be nice to see it fought out purely in the brilliance of the products you both offer us.

It only started happening after an iTunes update (several updates ago,) so I can't see how it could be a Windows problem.  It does work now and then for me, but minimizing iTunes then optimizing it goes back to not being able to get the task bar again.  I've just left space at the bottom of the screen for the task bar like everyone else, but it's annoying.

The latest update downloaded today does not work any better. Same issue. Appreciate your insight into the competitive aspects of this issue. It would be nice to have Apple weigh in on this. At least point a finger somewhere!

Yeah, this is pretty sad they still haven't fixed it.  I doubt it would be that hard of a fix, but it makes me hate using itunes.  I know I can get it to pop up with the windows key but it is still really annoying.
