Have you tried connecting your ATV to the router via ethernet? There may be interference. If you are simply streaming content from your iTunes library that is over the local network, not internet.

You might consider internet sharing but that would require you use wifi unless your computer has dual ethernet ports.

Personally I'd try to fix your network.

You can download and install iStumbler to help you see which channels are used by neighbouring networks so that you can avoid them, but iStumbler will not see household items.

Refer to your router manual for instructions on changing your wifi channel.
