unable to download itunes 10.5 for windows 7. multiple errors

I'm having the same problem, iv been trying all the recommend ways of solving this, but no luck so far, I'm trying to repair all my apple programs it's the apple mobile device support that won't let me repair grrr.

I also have problems just like you, but in order.

Fist . An error occured during installation of assembly "Microsoft.VC80.CRT

Second. Apple mobile device failed to start. Verify you have sufficient privileges to start system services.

LOL Apple =)) .

Now just wait for apple confirmed that bug, and fix it.

Seems to me that I'm always the one to get everything after everyone els. I won't be enjoying ios5 tonight lol

I get exactly the same. I removed I-Tunes and now it won't reinstall, as it's version 10.5. No IOS5 either.

After spending a long time I got fed up and did a workaround. I download & installed iTunes 10.5 on my other laptop (which has win 7 - 64 bit) transferred all my apps on that machine then updated to iOS 5. This worked :)

MobileDeviceHelper does not work immediately when i open my iTunes.

I can play music but if i connect my iPhone to my PC itunes just froze.😢

Same here, i just got the iphone 4s and im trying to add music to it through my Macbook Pros itunes and its installs and downloads but it doesnt update for some weird reason and my itunes has to be 10.5 or my iphone wont sync i dont know what to do! 😟

I also can't use iTunes since the update. The iTunes store doesn't ever load but I can download apps updates and podcasts. The iPhones don't get past the backup stage so I can't update to the new IOS 5.

It is the 10.5 update that is messed and should be fixed.

I am having the same problem. Started when windows 7 PC hung during iPhone synch/update. iTunes and safari will no longer open with two errors which are shown above. Apple updater cannot repair safari and "rolls back" install attempts. Tried uninstalling all apple software, and related apple folders with no luck. Cleaned registry, tried ms config suggestion, completed apple troubleshooting, no luck. I was told it is a Microsoft issue. My PC won't install updates now either. Incredibly frustrating, and no iOS 5.

I was able to fix mine after several attempts at other "fixes". Turns out several registry errors existed, missing Dll. Files and missing extensions. Windows update would not install updates either. I ran windows hot fix which fixed my update errors for windows update, then downloaded CCCLEANER from cnet.com. Clean the registry several times with CCCLEANER. Uninstalled everything Apple on my PC. Updated windows with windows update, then downloaded fresh copies of safari and iTunes. Both installed without those previous errors. This worked, good luck!
