UPC Scanning

Has apple considered allowing users that want to subscribe to the icloud service for sync/matching music library via itunes the ability to simply use their IOS device to scan the UPC codes of the CD's case they own into itunes and match songs based on the album? It seems to me this would be a much simpler process that scanning the 100's of CD's that many of us have, but inserting each disc and scanning/importing into itunes one-by-one to get the digital collection.. This would be a much more streamlined process. Thanks for your consideration Apple 🙂

You don't have to feed all your CDs in to iTunes again to get iTunes Matching (part of iCloud) to work if that is what your meaning.

iTunes Matching will look at the tracks you have already imported in to iTunes and will match those to tracks on the iTunes Store. Tracks you have previously imported in to iTunes from CDs will have been matched by comparing them with the Gracenote CDDB database and labelled with album/artist/trackname information.

If however you are referring to not having as yet imported your CDs, then yes, I can see your point that scanning the UPC would be an approach. However most people with CDs will have already imported at least most of their CDs so for the majority Apple's approach is fine.
