Why did Apple discontinue the white plastic Macbook?
Is this because of the new Macbook Air and the Improved Macbook Pro? I got the Pro, but why?

I don't think Apple has ever announced why.
Is it important?
I was going to get the Macbook but then they cut the line.... But I like my Macbook pro.
Apple used to have white and black Macbooks that were very popular, especially in the young educational market. Problem was they were not profitable.
So they got rid of the black one, kept the white one around a bit longer and introduced a line of iPads with underpowered netbook type processors, removed a lot of hardware like the keyboard, mouse, monitor stand, optical drive, hard drive, ports etc.
So instead of $1000 for a decent laptop that had everything, they now charge $500-$1000 for something less capable and all the extras sold separately.
On top of that they closed the device and introduced a AppStore, so they also get a cut of all the software sales. Their profits increased tremendously and customers got shafted.
They moved the MacBook into the MacBook Pro line with the 13 MBP, but it's got a lousy integrated graphics processor only and not deserving of the "Pro" name or the silver case, it's not fitting for the young educational market anymore or for "Pro's" really, but people get deceived that it's a powerful machine when it's not.
They killed the MacBook because people would think "Hey I get more hardware bang for my buck with the $1000 MacBook than with a $1000 iPad"
