I can't get the 3G on my iPhone 4 to work. I checked with AT&T and they said, "You couldn't have any better 3G signal in your area. You are right in the middle of it."
All the phone is doing is giving me and "E" (edge) connection.
When I get in bigger cities, the 3G works fine but with a meddium signal strength.
I have all 5 of my singnal strength bars.
please help me.

What have you tried to do on the phone to help? Have you tried any troubleshooting suggestions from the user manual or on the support pages?
Go to Settings > General >Network > Turn on "Enable 3G" and turn off "Celular Data"
And if AndyboyMac suggestion doesnt, reset ya phone so ya towers can find you.
None of your suggestions work. And "JenniferRules", I've tried that several times with AT&T they can't find out what is wrong with it.
Restore the device.
Take your sim out, blow into the SIM slot to clean dust possibly.
Re-insert your SIM.
Turn the phone back on.
AT&T doesn't fix the phones. They hardly ever give correct troubleshooting ideas.
So, you tried restart, reset and restore with no luck.. :-(
ncowley's sim suggestion may work.
Or you may need a new sim. AT&T should give you one for free.
I'd normally say take it to apple store, but you said it works in the city, so that prob wouldn't be a good idea.
Have you tried putting your phone in recovery mode?
back up and restore your iphone using itunes.. 🙂
he said restore didn't work. At least, he said he tried the troubleshooting suggtestions from the manual (which include restore) and it didnt work.
Recovery mode may not fix it because that's do to with the device it self.
The issue would more than likely be with AT&T rather than with the phone.
I know, but he said AT&T told him his coverage was good at home. And we all know AT&T ALWAYS tells the truth <G>
Take Screenshots in the maps application showing your geographical location.
Say that you have proof that you have no 3G

I understand the problem that your having.
The problem is either with the Antenna itself.
Or the carrier.
I would take a screenshot in the "Maps" application showing your location.
Take this to your AT&T shop and show them that your having this problem, they'll come up with a solution for you 🙂
As far as i can see this isn't a problem that can be fixed with the firmware.
Just soft reset ya phono. That's normally the prob. Matter just turn ya phone off every so often in order to be founded by the satellite. And I beat your live outside of your area code that's one ya phone to huh.
