Hi, I need to convert midi files to mp3 so I can load them into my i pod.
Can this be done? I have QuickTime player 7.0.4. Will I have to buy the QuickTimePro to be able to do this?
Thanks
QuickTime Pro can export MIDI files to AIFF format (CD Quality).
Drag this new file into your iTunes library and use it to convert the .aif file to .mp3 format.
Don't forget to delete the converted .aif file because it will measure in MB's.
iTunes can also play .mid files. I don't own an iPod so I can't test if the .mid file can be played on it. iTunes gives and error message when trying to convert .mid files.
Try iTunes first. My older version in OS 9.22 does it with no problem. Just make sure you have the iTunes preferences set to do Imports in Mp3 format. Then open Convert to Mp3 in the Advanced window and navigate to your midi files.

Simply import them in iTunes and convert them via the "advanced" settings.
QTPro will not allow you to convert to mp3, unless you install extra plug-ins (I guess they are not free)
