Question

why can't i connect my gmail to mac mail

I have connected my gmail account to mac mail, but it's getting hung up at mail message 31 of 634 (as shown in the mail activity box). I've cleaned up my gmail account as much as possible, and don't have any unusually large attachments. I successfully connected another gmail account and thought the second one was in conflict somehow. I deleted both and am now just trying to connect the new one, with no luck.

I've tried deleting and re-pasting my com.apple file, tweaked POP settings, everything I find in the forums. Any ideas? I'd try another mail program but the one I tried (Thunderbolt) says it's not compatible with my architecture.

I'm running Mac OS 10.5.8 on a PowerBook G4 and using Mail 3.6.

Hi Nala, no idea how I missed this!?

Older versions of Thunderbird are here...

I'm running 2.0.0.14 Mac version.

Are your gMail accounts POP or IMAP?

Thanks for your response BDAqua! I went back to check everything again, and there was one setting in gmail that pointed to POp instead of IMAP. That seems to have done the trick. Thanks for the link to the older version of Thunderbird, though. I'm going to try that interface to see what it's like.

I use gmail and mac mai (switching from Entourage after they changed Office without it without a business package). I went to google and did a search on the settings and followed it exactly. Try that - it goes screen by screen. Gmail might even have helps on how to set up with a Mac.
