Thanks japio, I'm on Vista Home Premium 32bit, I've had all of the mentioned issues, Apple support was useless.

I tried the netsh reset, then the required reboot.

I got to finally updated my phone, but still a blank iTunes Store screen,

As well as AppleMobileDeviceService constantly using up to 50% cpu as long as the machine is running, irregardless of iTunes running or not.

I've shut it down, then it "behaved" for a bit then Apple's error reporter started doing the same thing.

I can pretty much do whatever I need to do -EXCEPT- I still get the blank screen for the store.

I'm going to try the netsh reset again, then calling it quits for tonite I'll let you know if it helps.

Thanks for your fix, it got me a lot farther then Apple...

again, to repeat what others have said - this command prompt solution works perfectly / effortlessly.  Too bad apple in all it's infinite wisdom chooses to not actually publish a fix.  I had this issue with 10.4...and waited to upgrade to 10.5.  Thank goodness this works..

    SeanCa,

Thanks for the tip - this gave me the information that I needed.  I had AT&T communication manager installed, which is what controls my USB modem for times I am not in WiFi range.  With that uninstalled, iTunes works as it should.  Of course, this is only a temporary fix, as I still do need to use the AT&T program whenever I am not in WiFi range.  All the other programs that need to access the Internet work just fine with the AT&T program.

As a sidenote, a very helpful tech support person from Norton, which I use for anti-virus, went through a complete uninstall and re-install with me and confirmed that it was not Norton causing the problem with iTunes.

That is BS Norton blocks you more than you may realize and if that is truly not the issue then all of you must perform the steps listed in the following articles or use a different computer.

Look into what security software you are running and disable it and also go to apple.com/support and search for

itunes store connection issues by actually typing that into the bar next to support then scroll down to one of the TS articles and begin a jounrey of internet explorer configuration.

I have done the looking for you all:

    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1379

    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1527

    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1368

Norton Internet Security does indeed block iTunes to a large degree.

@Deb: thank you for the feedback!

As to firewall software: there MIGHT be issues with such here and there - but even then it's the question why those problems come up on systems where iTunes worked UNTIL the version 10.5 or even 10.4. No matter if its Norton, NetNanny or whatever - even on systems WITHOUT such software iTunes fails to connect after the update to 10.4 and/or 10.5.

The only "solution" is to uninstall ANY third party LSPs (by uninstalling their products, that never caused a problem before, or anywhere else) - so that is not a solution but an EMERGENCY workaround.

Apple has to fix their misbehaving software - and please ASAP.

    THAT's the point.

Have tried all the suggestions in this thread and still nothing is working.. Arrgg. Apple really need to be sorting these problems out, as clearly there is something wrong.

You ran the command line as admin?

    (Win+R, "cmd" Ctrl+Shift+Enter) ??

    After

      "netsh winsock reset"

On the command line, you also did

      "exit"

    and rebooted?

After the reboot, go to control panel, program and features and launch the "repair" function on the iTunes installation entry.

Launch iTunes now - store still not working?

The only idea I have is to uninstall the Apple Application Support component and reinstall iTunes again - best would be the clean uninstall procedure.

I can provide a batch file and

    Registry script for that.

The uninstall isn't necessary for 10.5.  There is another thread that is an offshoot of this one that provided a command line entry & restart and everything works in the iTunes store.  I'm sorry that I don't have the direct link or command line...but going back through this thread should show you the link to the other thread.

The uninstall does work for upgrading from 3 to 10.4...but not to 10.5.

You should maybe reread the whole

    Thread here.

The complete uninstall is necessary in cases. Has nothing to do with versions.

The command line is the netsh winsock reset.

It kicks out all 3rd party LSPs that were installed  because iTunes hasn't implemented hooking itself in into the LSP chain properly since version 10.4.

I get it. Most people know not what runs on their PCs, whether

knowingly installed or bloatware that plagues every little

task and process. Not to mention the abandonment of

any maintenence of an Internet connection. I would agree

what you post is a viable and awesome solution. I just

did not realize it was Apple's job to baby and nurture every

person in the world running spyware doctor, Norton, and countless

other pieces of software that effects those LSP entries what I suggested was

people read the articles provided and there is actually processes listed

that resolve these issues as well, however I can admit I was being a jerk. But what

concerns me is people who know nothing of their machines. I can agree

that they should not have to neccesarily but not knowing anything is dangerous.

Yes I did that several times.

I unistalled and reinstalled everything, several times. After each uninstal running ccleaner several times, rebooting, running the cleaner.

I created a new users. I went through Itunes troubleshooting, and nothing.

I have tried on two laptops, both have different antivirus, both I disabled the firewall. I do not have any web filters. One is Vista, one is windows 7, and incidentally when trying to update on the vista I also had problems so I am still on the old version. THere is nothing wrong with my systems, and everything is upto date. Because of the time outs and error messages telling me I am not connected to the internet when I try access the help pages, I have connected via cable, and still telling me I am not connected.

I am lucky I suppose as I do still have an older version. But really that is not the point. Apple should be dealing with this, not refering their users to the community forums for members to try and resolve all these issues.I have wasted a week and a mountain of paper printing off all the 'fixes'.

I believe you followed the uninstallation propery. But I will

make a  video later where I will reproduce the problem and solve it

to demonstrate how to fix this. But I do find it odd that the troubleshooting

you will see me perform is also in support articles. No problem with

iTunes software, just some easy non destructive settings to be looked at.

Also I will post this video around 9 pm mountain. Have a nice day.
