well its taking me forever to update to ios 5 and backup. though i must say ive got a lot of apps but considering that ios5 is twice as fast, i dont see why its taking forever....i started the updating about 1.5 hrs ago and its still going. has anyone done is twice as fast?

Had some problems upgrading the IPhone 4 to IOS 5. Error message: this device isn't eligible for this...
Just had to edit the hosts file on the Mac by terminal then it all worked out fine
here in fl updating my ipod touch 4g but its taking for ever itunes says 4 hours
Can you give more detail about updating the hosts file? Thanks.
Is it really taking 13 hours to download and install? That's what my count says. I'm trying to update the iphone4. Still have the ipad2 and ipod touch4 to do. If they all take this long, I'll be here all night into tomorrow. Please tell me it speeds up sometime soon!
I followed the instructions in this KB article and solved my upgrade issue;
My Iphone4 update failed (not eligible for requested build)
on a mac go to terminal enter sudo nano /etc/hosts
on windows use notepad and edit %SystemRoot%\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
comment out the line gs.apple.com
