Yes if you really have a 3G iPod. If it is 8 or 16 GB capacity it is a 2G and that can only go to 4.2.1. See:

I don't reccomend upgrading to IOS5 at this time. Look around on this site. It is killing us. Problem is, you can't go back if it doesn't work, and for at least some of us, it doesn't work in a BIG way.

So there is a way to go back to the iOS4.xxx? I backed up my iTunes about 4 days before I upgraded if I restore my iPod 3g and set it back to where it was backed up will it go back to the iOS4.xxx? I can't stand the iOS5 I can't even use my iPod right now cause the iOS5 has messed it up.

Downgrading the iOS is not supported by Apple. Sorry.

hey IIIass, when are you going to realize that with the 4th gen ipod touch there is a 8gb version of it apple re-releasd it when the 4th gen ipod was launched in september of 2010

Hey Apple what did you say, that you lied at these peoples which have buyed a Ipod Touch 3G 8GB. This is a 2g. i dont know where it was on apple.com but anywhere i saw that i can see its a 2G!!!!!!!!

But when i bought it you said its a 3G!!!!(ok the disign is 3G and some other things but deep inside its a 2G)
