Cannot restore/update iPhone. Internal error iOS5

I'm trying to update from iOS 4.3.5 to iOS5 but when I try to update I recieve an error during the restore process. I think it is an error with verifying the update. User uploaded file

It's a refurbished iPhone. Anyone else having the same issue?

You're not alone...

Edit: On my first attempt it verified the restore and started "Restoring" my apps. Then it failed with the internal error. Another attempt gave me a -34 error. I told iTunes to not continue the restore (when it gave me that option) and I was able to get my phone working. I'm now attampting to sync all of my content back on. Don't know if that makes sense, or helps, but basically I upgraded and restored and then resynched in a different pass. Hope it helps others.

HI there just to confirm I have two iPads, (1 & 2) and two iPhone 3GS. All are coming up with same error! on three different machines.

One windows machine and two Mac's and all are getting same error. I think V5.0 is flawed and there is something very seriously wrong with the code or the way it tries to wipe and restore...

iOS 5 downloaded in just 20 minutes. Then it took forever to backup. When it finished at last, iTunes tried to restore the iPhone, but gave me the "The iPhone *** could not be restored. An internal error occurred". Hopefully this is an issue caused by the enormous flood of people doing the same thing at the same time. So, maybe later it's solved.

Same here. I followed all the troubleshooting suggestions such as disconnecting USB devices, disabling firewall, restarting, etc, and I keep getting this error message when the update process gets to the "Restore" phase. Fortunately, the phone is not bricked, but simply retains its prior configuration. Could this be due to overload on the update servers? I downloaded the update using "Download Only" prior to attempting to run the update process. No joy.

In addition, "An error occurred while tryig to submit your post. Please try again." Apple must be having a busy day.
