I enter the correct apple ID and password but icloud says that "This Apple ID is valid but is not an iCloud account". What's the problem?

I am talking about the desktop...

Same issue here. I've tried all the troubleshooting. Works fine on an iMac, Macbook Pro, iPad and iPhone but one other iMac - the error persists. MobileMe support told me to remove the system prefs plist (but that won't work because I have the same issue in a new user so it's system wide.) Only other option, which seems extreme, has been to re-install Lion. I'm waiting for Apple on this one!

hi all,

everyone who are still having this problem, pls go to 'about this mac' and check is the serial number for ur mac is still there. if not, then that is causing the problem. the most likely reason for not having the serial number is getting the mac repaired and the tech there forgot/did not care about putting the serial number back. some also said (in this forum) that sn 'vanised' after updating to 10.7.2 n they did not have their repaired.

anyway, in case ur serial number is not there, then follow the below procedures:

download Blank Board Serializer from internet. look for it on google, and it is also there in torrent.

but remember, both of the files i downloaded for it, was in an old zip format. u need stuffit to unzip it.

then write the .dmz file (after unzipping) to a pendrive. i didn't want to use a cd for a 10 mb file. it worked for me from the usb. search on google how to make a bootable usb drive. u have to do it with disk utilities. there are several sites which shows how to do it. most of the sites show how to do it for lion installation disk. just follow the process replacing the lion dmg by this dmg.

then restart and boot from the pendrive (or in case u used a cd/dvd).

after booting, it takes 2/1 mins to put the old serial number written on the mac on ur mother board.

now restart and see the s/n is there on 'about this mac'.

then start icloud.

let me know if it works for u.
