icloud.com sign-in error message

My MobileMe account is converted to an iCloud account and works fine on my iOS 5 devices (iPad 2 and iPhone 4). However, I am unable to sing-in to my account at icloud.com. I get an error message that reads, "Connection Error: iCloud encountered an error while trying to connect to the server." Any ideas??

I am unable to access iCloud.com via Internet Explorer. I can get to it via Safari and Firefox, but I'm now getting a different error message when I try to access Mail specifically. iCal, Address Book, etc. all work fine on iCloud.com from Safari and Firefox. I was able to access iCloud mail on iCloud.com last night without any problems on both Safari and Firefox.

Same here. I first noticed because I brought up my Unified Inbox on my iPhone, and it told me it couldn't download my mail because my iCloud password was incorrect (even though it was working fine last night). I went into Settings and re-entered my password, it accepted it, but my Inbox still tells me my password is incorrect. So then I tried signing in to the website (using IE8 as well as Chrome) and I get the "encountered an error" message like the rest of the people on this thread. 😟

Solved my own problem...the problem was with my cookies settings. I was verifying each cookie as it came to me for security reasons. I must have clicked always block on an important cookie. The fix, I used internet tools to delete all my cookies, cleared my SSL state, and turned off/unchecked the "overide automatic cookie handling" option in privacy>advanced.

Shazam...I can get into the cloud manager without a problem...
