How to flag Mail Messages in iOS5?

My Mail messages in iOS5 don't reflect the flagged status in mail. Trying to flag them on the iPhone's Mail clinet by selecing "edit" should (apparently) offer me a choice to delete, mark (as unread/read) or Flag. I just get a choice of Mark or Delete - No flagging option, no flags showing on any of my messages. I'm using 10.7.2 and iOS5 (natch) on an iPhone 4 - Anyone got this to work or am I missing some hideous, glaring ommission?

Thanks

M

Choose MARK, then FLAG or MARK AS UNREAD are your options.

I am experiencing the same problem. I am able to flag a message in the iCloud/@me.com account but cannot flag a message in my Exchange account. Has anyone been able to successfully flag messages in an Exchange account? Could this have something to do with a server-side setting and/or the Exchange Server version?

Firstly, thanks to Anthony - Can't believe I missed that one. While the way to flag messages is resolved for me now on my iCloud/Me account, the fact that none of my flags are reflected on my Exchange account is not, and sadly that is the account which I use for about 95% of my mails; it was really the only thing I really needed from iOS5 - All the rest is handy, but not critical. Selecting "Mark" on an Exchange message simply offers the option to mark as read - There's no flag option. If I select a message sent to my .me address, I get the mark as read option, as-well as flag.

So, I'm wondering if this is a setting server-side, or to do with the version of Exchange server being run, as there's nothing in the OS I can see in the way of options. I'm tempted to delete the account and re-create it, but waiting for it to download all those messages again (and potentially screw up syncing, which it has done in the past) is putting me right off the idea. I didn't have the calendars, to-dos or contacts set to sync with Exchange (never use them) so I tried turning them on, but no difference.

If anyone with a bit of Exchange knowledge has any input or ideas, I'd appreciate the help.

Cheers

Well, for me, I flag my messages in Mail (on my Mac) that need actioning or are ongoing projects, and I have a Smart Mailbox which then shows only unread or flagged messages, which is basically like an e-mail to-do list. If I am not in the office and a mail comes in that I want to flag, so I can deal with it later (maybe because I have to attach a spreadsheet or something, or it has to be a lengthy reply that I can't type out on the iPhone) I can't do so. Instead, I have to mark it as unread, which it isn't. Conversely, all of my flagged messages in mail won't show as flagged on the iPhone or iPad, so it makes stuff I need to deal with much harder to find when I am not in the office. While you can't just show flagged messages, it makes spotting the to-do stuff easier for me on the iPhone in a list of thousands of messages, and allows me to create that "to do" list on the fly, for when I get back to the office.

The flagging thing has just always been the way that I work, and I thought that when iOS5 came along it would make things easier when using my iPhone/iPad; apparently not...

I'm having the same problem, also using Exchange 2003. No option to flag, only to mark as unread. I've also discovered that full text Mail searching is not working. Odd thing is that these features don't work on my iPad or iPhone 3S, but do work on other phones/iPads in my office - that is, using the same Exchange setup. I just tried a full restore to see if these features came unstuck, but no luck. Is a fix in the works?
